SOUTH CAROLINA MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER - OUR STORY

The story of Marriage Encounter in South Carolina actually began in North Carolina in 1971, when the weekend was brought there due to the dedication and vision of three couples and a priest from New York. That weekend experience quickly spread across North Carolina, and eventually spread not only to South Carolina, but to Americans in Europe as well.

In October of 1972, an outreach weekend sponsored by Charlotte, North Carolina was held in South Carolina. The weekend experience continues to grow here in South Carolina, with regular meetings of encountered couples and priests all over the state. There are usually four weekends given each year in South Carolina.

South Carolina is part of Worldwide Marriage Encounter Section 4, along with Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington D.C., and Americans In Europe.

The leadership team for Section 4 is presently Don & Wink Flanders and Fr. Doug Reed (L)

The leadership team for South Carolina is presently Bian & Pam DeVos.
